 • Series: How To Pray

Songs Let Your Kingdom Come Run To The Father All Things Together Sermon Notes Prayer is not transactional, it’s relational. The primary purpose of our lives is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. “In commanding us to glorify him, God is inviting us to enjoy him” – C.S.Lewis PAUSE - to acknowledge His presence REJOICE - to bask in His goodness Psalm 46:10 NIV He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 19:1-4 NIV The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.3 They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them.4 Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun. Matthew 6:9 NIV “This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, Zephaniah 3:17 NIV The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” What happens when we forget is that God loses out on the praise He deserves. And we lose out on this incredible faith we would have … if only we remembered. Psalm 103:1-5 NIV Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.2 Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—3 who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,4 who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,5 who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagles. Psalm 145 1:10 NIV I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name forever and ever. 2 Every day I will praise you and extol your name forever and ever. 3 Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. 4 One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts. 5 They speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty— and I will meditate on your wonderful works. 6 They tell of the power of your awesome works—and I will proclaim your great deeds. 7 They celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness. 8 The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. 9 The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. 10 All your works praise you, Lord; your faithful people extol you. 1. Rejoice in Who He is 2. Rejoice in What He has done 3. Rejoice no matter what circumstance we’re in. 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18 NIV Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Gratitude silences worry and gives room for joy!
